Aditya Phatak - Seasoned Product person

About me.ย Informally.

In my daily routine, I find joy in starting my mornings with an early run before dawn, embracing the beauty of a liberating sunrise. Afterwards, I may read quick articles on product/UX blogs, business productivity, and entrepreneurial or leadership topics. Nowadays, I combine my runs with listening to books and podcasts on Audible. On weekends, when I’m not engrossed in a series or movie marathon, you’ll likely find me indulging in non-fictional books. In my free time, I enjoy exploring UI/UX case studies and designs on platforms like Behance and Dribbble to refresh my thoughts and gather inspiration for the tech products I’m working on. And to wind down, I cherish evenings spent with close friends and colleagues, engaging in sports, good food, and drinks. As a big fan of LFC (Liverpool Football Club) and Redbull F1, I always make sure to catch their matches.

Oh, I almost forgot to mention that work is also a part of my life. ๐Ÿ˜Š

Lately, I’ve developed a keen interest in pet behavior and communication. Here’s the Instagram profile of my cat who sadly passed away a few years ago.

Formal background

I hold a degree in Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering and pursued an MBA in Finance. My professional journey started in the finance industry before taking a 180-degree turn into advertising and marketing while working for an advertising agency. From there, I embraced the startup world and managed a cricket sports startup, eventually finding my passion as a Product Manager.

Surprising career ride

Honestly, it has been an incredible learning experience! The combination of diverse knowledge across industries and domains has unexpectedly enriched my skills as a Product Manager. This path is what initially led me to become a PM, and I recently realized the significance of connecting the dots. I’ll write about this in a separate post someday!

During my three years at the ad agency, I worked as an account manager for clients like Tata CliQ and Alef Mobitech. This experience sparked my fascination with design, motivating me to delve deeper into both physical and digital design. I pursued certifications in UX & UI design, which greatly contributed to my growth as a user experience-driven PM.

Social

You can find glimpses of my daily life and some amateurishly artistic pictures on my Instagram. If you’re interested in my thoughts on cricket, product management, and important readings, I share my two cents on Twitter. And if you want to explore my professional journey and potential future endeavors, you can connect with me on LinkedIn.

Knowledge and Experience

I’m always eager to share the knowledge and experiences I’ve gained so far. I enjoy sharing my insights and contributing whenever I can. Additionally, I have a strong desire to continue learning about product management, UX design (I even hold legitimate certifications!), and general management.

If you’re a Product Manager or aspiring to become one, I highly recommend checking out this valuable list of reads that I’ve curated for future reference. It has been instrumental in my daily growth as a PM, and I keep adding to it whenever I come across intriguing and resourceful content.

If you’re also passionate about marketing and enjoy contextual content on product branding and marketing, you might find value in this reading list I’ve compiled.

And lastly, I have a love for design (something about lefties). I occasionally capture design moments, pin them up (although it’s rare), and even create designs myself. If you share similar interests, you should explore some cool stuff on user experience and interfaces here.
